APPARAT

Sascha Ring —better known as Apparat— is one of the most influential and respected figures in contemporary electronic music. Born in Germany and based in Berlin, he has evolved from early minimal techno explorations into a sophisticated sound world that blends electronic experimentation, ambient textures, emotional depth and a strong cinematic sensibility. His music resonates far beyond club culture, positioning him as a key voice in European electronica.

Apparat began his career in the early 2000s as part of the groundbreaking Shitkatapult label, where he crafted a distinctive sonic identity defined by restlessness and curiosity. His ability to turn electronic textures into evocative, emotional landscapes quickly set him apart and earned him acclaim across the international scene.

In 2009 he joined forces with Modeselektor to form Moderat, a project that became one of the most celebrated electronic acts of the past decade. Their blend of powerful beats, hypnotic melodies and emotionally charged songwriting brought them worldwide recognition and unforgettable live shows, securing their place as a global phenomenon.

Parallel to Moderat, Apparat continued cultivating a more intimate solo sound. Albums like The Devil’s Walk (2011), Krieg und Frieden (2013) and the critically acclaimed LP5 (2019) showcase his evolution toward a refined, atmospheric and emotionally precise style. His voice, increasingly present, has given his music a new expressive dimension.

Apparat is also widely recognised for his work in film, theatre and television. His contributions to the soundtrack of the hit series “Dark” introduced his atmospheric soundscapes to millions of viewers worldwide, reinforcing his reputation as a master of mood and emotion.

Live, Apparat offers a transformative experience. His concerts blend electronic detail, live instrumentation and rich arrangements into performances that feel immersive and narrative-driven. With a band adding strings, percussion and layered synths, his shows reveal the human and emotional side of electronic music like few others can.

After more than twenty years of constant evolution, Apparat remains a vital and innovative artist—one who continues to push boundaries while staying true to his core mission: creating music that moves, that surprises, and that stays with you long after the last note fades.
