Anna Of The North is the electro-pop artist Anna Lotterud, whose music exists in a warm and dreamy atmosphere. Originally from Gjøvik, Norway, Anna met New Zealand producer Brady Daniell-Smith at one of his shows while studying in Melbourne, Australia. Their connection led to her debut single, Sway (2014). The song became an internet sensation—its remix by New York DJ duo The Chainsmokers surpassed two million views on YouTube—and helped her secure record deals in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
Following two more impactful singles, The Dreamer (2015) and Us (2016), she embarked on a European tour with Norwegian DJ Kygo, which culminated in the release of Oslo in 2017. These early successes set the stage for her breakthrough that same year when she was featured on Boredom and 911 / Mr. Lonely by American rapper and producer Tyler, The Creator. On the latter track, she collaborated with contemporary R&B icon Frank Ocean and Steve Lacy of The Internet.
Paraphrasing Kanye West, for Anna, it was like “touching the sky.” Her debut LP, Lovers, was released in September 2017, followed by Dream Girl in October 2019, which spawned four singles: Leaning On Myself, Used To Be, Thank Me Later, and Playing Games. Her third album, Crazy Love, arrived in November 2022, earning high praise, with The Sunday Times stating that Abba would be proud. In April 2023, a Deluxe edition was released with three additional tracks.
The latest addition to her discography is the single Møtte deg i døra, released on January 17, 2025, marking her second song in Norwegian. Speaking about it, she shared: “It’s about being really drunk and feeling weird and all that. Oh, and I have new music in English just around the corner!”
