MR SANCHEZ is a Valencian alternative rock band formed in London in 2017.

After making a name for themselves in London’s independent music circuit, the band reached No. 1 in their category on Reverbnation in London—an unprecedented achievement for a Spanish-singing group.

In 2018, they released their debut album, Sort Out Your Shit, Mr Sanchez, which they presented in both the UK and Spain, selling out all shows. That same year, MR SANCHEZ decided to return to Spain, where they won the band contest at the Foios Little Fest 2018.

In 2019, they began recording their next project, Canciones de amor, vida y muerte, a conceptual trilogy inspired by the poem Llegó con tres heridas by Alicante-born poet Miguel Hernández. The trilogy consisted of three volumes: Cinco canciones de amor (2019), Cinco canciones de vida (2020), and Cinco canciones de muerte (2021). This ambitious work was recognized among the best albums of the year by Mondo Sonoro C. Valenciana.

After a hiatus due to the pandemic, MR SANCHEZ resumed their live performances in 2022, sharing the stage with bands such as León Benavente. The impact of these shows, driven by their powerful live sound and strong songwriting, led to their nomination for Best New Band 2022 at the Premis Carles Santos de la Música Valenciana, awarded by the Institut Valencià de Cultura.

2023 saw them embark on a national tour, opening for The Waterboys and La Plazuela, and reaching the finals of the Zafarraya Sound festival band contest in Granada.

In 2024, they won the Alhama Festival de Música contest (Alhama de Granada), securing a spot opening for La Guardia.

MR SANCHEZ’s music blends the melodies and lyrics of the most creative pop-rock with elements of British alternative rock. The band’s two songwriters, Darío Sánchez and Coque González, have effortlessly navigated punk rock, grunge, and singer-songwriter pop throughout their careers, resulting in a sound that spans from power pop to synth rock, with Spanish lyrics that shift between introspective songwriting and raw rock energy.

Their live performances, driven by Héctor García’s outstanding drumming technique, showcase the skill of three musicians with international experience (UK and US), creating a unique connection and chemistry with their audience.

Following the release of their EPs Renacimiento I and Renacimiento II, their full-length album Renacimiento arrives in late November 2024, incorporating the two EPs along with two additional tracks. The band describes it as “an album that attempts to capture the journey we went through upon returning to Spain. We realized that moving back to our hometown (Valencia) was a kind of rebirth—a new stage in life in the same place where we were born. That’s why all the songs revolve around the concept of rebirth, each with its own distinct meaning.”

The album has already been recognized among the Best of 2024 by Mondo Sonoro C. Valenciana.
